Staff Software Engineer

Staff Engineer role focused on technical leadership, code quality, and mortgage industry domain expertise. Responsible for setting technical direction, driving cross-functional projects, and delivering mortgage-specific features while ensuring regulatory alignment in a remote US-based setting.
Responsibilities
- Set technical direction and sponsor initiatives while contributing to codebase
- Lead complex cross-functional projects and feature deliveries
- Identify high-value work and champion initiatives that impact the product and organization
- Drive design and implementation of mortgage industry-specific features and improvements
- Integrate mortgage industry standards and best practices into software design and architecture
- Serve as mortgage industry subject matter expert within the engineering team
- Translate technical decisions into guiding principles for the team
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and innovative team culture
Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience
- Experience in backend engineering (engineering, backend)
- Strong knowledge of AWS, PostgreSQL, Python, and microservices
- Ability to work in a startup environment and drive long-term technical strategy
- Deep understanding of the mortgage industry, including workflows and regulations
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- US citizen or visa holder (visa: US citizen/visa only)
