Senior Spacecraft Thermal Engineer
About the role
Senior Thermal Engineer role at Turion Space leading design, analysis, testing, and implementation of satellite thermal systems. Owns thermal control/management and collaborates across software/hardware teams to shape vehicle architecture as missions scale.
Responsibilities
- Thermal design of hardware from high-level layout to validation with ground tests
- Automate workflow to reduce engineering effort in the design cycle
- Control the system-level thermal model
- Select in-house testing equipment and external testing facilities
- Pursue performance/robustness improvements
- Pursue operational simplicity
- Produce quality documentation to reduce miss-rate and improve efficiency
Qualifications
- Degree in an engineering discipline
- Experience with Thermal Desktop, Simulink, Simscape, Femap, NX-NASTRAN, or ANSYS Workbench
- Experience with 3-D and reduced-order thermal modeling
- Experience with 3-D CAD software such as SolidWorks
- Ability to identify sizing cases and quickly evaluate design decisions
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to deliver against an aggressive schedule
