Senior Software Engineer
About the role
Senior Software Engineer at Casca, an early-stage fintech AI company building AI-native banking solutions. On-site in San Francisco, full-time. Emphasis on end-to-end ownership, pragmatic delivery, collaboration with stakeholders, code quality, reliability, observability, and rapid iteration in a fast-paced startup environment.
Responsibilities
- Own the Lifecycle: end-to-end component ownership from technical scoping and architecture to deployment, observability, and long-term maintenance
- Deliver with Pragmatism: propose technical shortcuts or alternative implementations to deliver core value faster while avoiding unnecessary complexity
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: work with customers and product managers to break down features into actionable tasks, surface edge cases and trade-offs
- Elevate the Team: conduct rigorous code reviews, share best practices, and unblock peers to improve throughput
- Build for Reliability: implement observability and automated testing to ensure production reliability and seamless integration into Casca architecture
Qualifications
- 5+ years of software engineering experience in production SaaS environments
- Recent experience in fast-paced, high-velocity environments (last 2–4 years) with leadership and high-stakes trade-offs
- Deep experience in web application development with relational databases and a quality-first mindset
- Architectural maturity to anticipate scaling challenges and avoid over-engineering
- Integrity and alignment with team-first, transparent, honorable business practices
- Mission-driven mindset with a focus on positively impacting end-users
- Operational grit with comfort handling ambiguity and high-throughput in a rapidly evolving org
