About the role
AI Engineer Intern role at Hey Telo, a YC-backed company building Voice AI for the Home Service industry. You will help shape product, technology, and culture from day one with a focus on AI/ML and full-stack development.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with customers and help them solve their problems to make their work more enjoyable
- Build scalable backend infrastructure to handle thousands of phone calls per day
- Build intuitive user experiences in an AI-first world
- Optimize our voice agents for reliability, accuracy, and indistinguishability from talking to a real human
- Stay ahead of emerging trends in voice AI, LLM agents, and distributed systems
Qualifications
- Students or recent graduates in SWE, AI & ML
- Experience in full-stack software engineering (React, Typescript, Python) and cloud technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/GCP/Azure)
- Projects with modern LLM techniques (transformers, agents, RAG, fine-tuning, context engineering)
- Big Plus - Experience with building voice agents (Vapi, Pipecat, LiveKit)
- Expertise in leveraging AI tools that make you more productive (Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, etc.)
- Fluency in German and ability to talk to customers
