About the role
Founding engineer role at HumanLayer, building an Agentic IDE for AI-driven software development. Focus on shipping across the full stack, deep user empathy, and solving hard problems in AI developer productivity.
Responsibilities
- Work across the entire stack - frontend apps, backend services, native executables, infrastructure, CI
- Build with a strong emphasis on Typescript ecosystem across frontend, backend, native executables, and infrastructure-as-code
- Ship features rapidly while maintaining product quality and user experience
- Engage with customers to onboard and solve their problems
- Demonstrate strong CS fundamentals (OS, networking, data structures)
- Familiarity with Claude Code or Codex usage at a high level
- Collaborate with design and product teams to drive value for developers
- Participate in on-site and remote collaboration as needed
Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in engineering roles
- Deep experience in the Typescript ecosystem across multiple layers of the stack
- Strong frontend and backend capabilities, plus familiarity with infrastructure and CI
- Proficiency with Postgres/MySQL
- Experience with AI developer productivity or large language models is a plus
- Comfort with customer-facing deployments and onboarding
- Excellent CS fundamentals (operating systems, networking, data structures)
- Location in SF or willingness to relocate (relocation costs covered)
- Ability to work long hours in a high-intensity startup environment
