About the role

Security Engineer role supporting the FO Security Engineering Team (SET) with automation, documentation, system administration, and security operations across on-premises, cloud, and wireless environments for Focused Operations (FO) within Enterprise Analysis System (EAS).

Responsibilities

  • Implement automation and orchestration capabilities within the FO environment.
  • Design and develop documentation for on-premises and cloud-based solutions provided (SOPs, technical documentation, diagrams).
  • Provide support for TSA PKI functions, including system administrative support for creating and setting up certificates on systems.
  • Analyze design, development, security and integration of hardware/software interfaces and system level requirements to provide an integrated IT solution.
  • Perform health and wellness monitoring of the FO FISMA Systems.
  • Perform administration, maintenance, and updates of forensic applications to ensure they remain functional.
  • Schedule changes to avoid impact on ongoing investigations.
  • Review health and well-being of security technologies (firewall, router, VPN, IDS sensors, proxies, wireless, PKI, switches) and report monthly health and wellness.
  • Travel to EAS device locations for administration/repair as needed.
  • Ensure RFC processes, CCB approvals, testing before deployment for FO FISMA Systems changes.
  • Recommend and implement technologies/changes to enhance FO FISMA operations and security.
  • Document recommendations and changes for FO Branch Manager.
  • Coordinate TSA change control processes and approvals prior to implementation.
  • Coordinate with TSA offices for FO technologies in TSA Systems.
  • Create and deliver Security and Vulnerability Status reports monthly.
  • Administer and support devices and OSs (Windows, macOS, UNIX/Linux) including AD servers and other systems.
  • Assist in management of OSes, tools and applications used by IAD Security Engineers.
  • Develop integrated system test strategies and execute system and security testing.
  • Design and integrate information security suites into delivered solutions to meet security best practices.
  • Update tickets in JIRA.
  • Verify ePO antivirus definitions and keep WSUS up-to-date.
  • Ensure equipment functioning, backups, attend meetings, review logs, remediate issues, complete documentation, complete OLC training, respond to ISSO requests.
  • Provide input to ISVMs and other ISSO requests.
  • Assist other teams with requirements or issues.

Qualifications

  • Secret clearance (per requisition)
  • Experience with threat emulation, big data analytics, open-source and GOTS cybersecurity tools
  • Familiarity with EAS FO environment, TSA PKI, RFC/CCB processes
  • Strong system administration across Windows, macOS, UNIX/Linux environments
  • Knowledge of network security technologies (firewalls, VPNs, IDS, proxies, PKI)
  • Experience with JIRA, ePO, WSUS, disaster backups and incident remediation
