About the role
Psychiatrist position providing psychiatric assessments and ongoing medication management for referred developmentally disabled patients with mental health disorders in a contract, on-site role based in San Jose, CA.
Responsibilities
- Performs psychiatric assessments/evaluations and mental status examinations (MSEs) with diagnoses per DSM.
- Use Hope’s electronic health record system and follow Santa Clara County Psychiatric Medical Guidelines; interface with medical director, nurses, clinicians and case managers.
- Obtains and reviews data including laboratory and diagnostic procedures relevant to evaluation and treatment.
- Provides detailed written reports of assessments/evaluations, MSEs, diagnoses and treatment summaries; completes medical records.
- Contributes to development and implementation of individualized mental health treatment plans; collaborates on diagnoses with clinical staff.
- Provides psychiatric services in outpatient clinics (telehealth and/or office).
- Provides consultation, review, and peer guidance for other psychiatrists or therapists.
- Consults with medical director or clinic Director about policies related to evaluation and treatment.
- Participates in quality assurance/improvement programs as needed.
- Provides expert advice to families and caregivers regarding diagnoses and treatment; discusses intersections of mental health and intellectual disabilities.
- Prepares legal and other court-related documents when necessary.
Qualifications
- Must be Board Certified or eligible by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in adult and/or child psychiatry.

- Salary Range: $20,000 - $30,000 per month commensurate with experience and qualifications
