About the role

Machine learning researcher role focused on generative modeling to design new proteins with functional wet-lab assays, within an interdisciplinary team spanning ML, protein engineering and biology.

Responsibilities

  • Build machine learning models that work in the physical world: curate training/evaluation data, propose and build ML evaluation metrics aligned with real-world success and company goals, quickly prototype generative models against lead metrics, collaborate in a joint codebase with researchers/engineers/protein designers, maintain compute/ML development infrastructure, collaborate with the bio team to plan wet lab testing campaigns and run model inferences against biological targets, learn from wet lab results and feedback data to models.
  • Self development: stay updated on ML developments, gain understanding of protein and cell biology, participate in knowledge sharing, attend and present at conferences.

Qualifications

  • You are a strong ML researcher with experience in generative modeling.
  • You have led or worked on notable machine learning projects with contributions to open source libraries, significant product launches or high impact publications (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, Nature).
  • You have proven deep expertise in generative modeling.
  • You are a skillful ML developer with robust, tested code, experience with version control, fast prototyping and production coding, and experience running training/inference on cloud hardware.
  • You are a data engineer with experience building ML data pipelines, data analysis for raw data, dataset splits and scalable pipelines.
  • You are passionate about model performance and optimizing DL models for training/inference speed, with knowledge of best practices in model architecture.
  • You thrive in a dynamic, mission-driven environment and are curious about problems of any size.
