About the role
Machine learning researcher focused on generative modeling to design functional proteins, working within an interdisciplinary team of ML researchers, protein engineers and biologists to advance synthetic biology and disease-related applications.
Responsibilities
- Build machine learning models that work in the physical world (~90% of your time): contribute to data curation, propose and build ML evaluation metrics aligned with real-world success, prototype generative models against lead metrics, collaborate in a joint codebase with researchers, maintain compute/ML development infrastructure, plan wet lab testing campaigns with the bio team and run model inference against biological targets, learn from wet lab results and feedback data.
- Self development (~10% of your time): stay updated on ML developments, gain understanding of protein and cell biology, participate in internal knowledge sharing, attend and present at conferences.
Qualifications
- Experience in generative modeling as an ML researcher
- Strong ML developer with production-ready coding skills, version control, fast prototyping, capability to run training/inference on cloud hardware
- Experience building ML data pipelines for training/evaluation of deep learning models
- Deep understanding of ML libraries, hardware/data interactions, and model optimization for training/inference speed
- Mission-driven and curious with ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
