About the role

Manufacturing Engineer role focused on improving safety, reliability, process capability, and manufacturability of avionics hardware in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment. Lead projects, collaborate with engineering and technicians, and drive continuous improvement across design for manufacturability and testability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead improvement projects to ensure safety, reliability, and process capability goals are achieved, maintained, and improved
  • Be a vital part of the relationship between our engineering and technician team
  • Provide input into the design and development of new and existing hardware and take a lead role in the manufacturing and integration of our current and next-generation vehicles
  • Drive root-cause analysis and corrective action recommendations/implementation
  • Apply process improvement methodologies and tools (e.g. value stream mapping, problem-solving, visual management, etc.) to reduce manufacturing build hours and quality issues; increase production rates; and remove waste from complex processes
  • Manage projects and execute to tight timelines while effectively communicating with and influencing stakeholders
  • Train technicians, engineers, and leaders on best-in-class operations practices by leading process improvement workshops; providing training and information briefs on key topics; and personally, demonstrating by implementing solutions in the area
  • Work with design engineers to evaluate designs for manufacturability and test requirements, then implement in a rapidly evolving production environment
  • Ideate and implement tooling and test solutions, enabling high-quality hardware
  • Be responsible for the manufacturability and introduction into the rate manufacturing environment of assigned products
  • Contribute to design reviews acting as an expert in design for manufacturability, design for testability, yield improvements, supplier capabilities assessments, quality control, etc
  • Be the primary point of contact for the production of non-conforming products, troubleshooting, root cause, failure investigations, and corrective actions
  • Work on process and tooling development/validation for new products
  • Drive the optimization of assembly and test procedures
  • Prepare engineering documentation necessary for the transition from development to production including assembly procedures, test procedures, standard operating procedures, schematic diagrams, bills of materials, suitable alternate parts lists, and mechanical drawings
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts of established product
