About the role

Power Engineer II responsible for design, analysis, and validation of power electronics systems for Shield AI’s X-BAT aircraft, spanning HV/LV systems, power conversion, battery management, and embedded safety across 1 kW+ to >10 kW applications.

Responsibilities

  • Design Power Electronics: High-voltage and low-voltage power systems; DC-DC converters, inverters, motor controllers; Battery, Battery management, power generation, and distribution; Embedded safety and protection mechanisms
  • Design across power ranges: Solutions from <1 kW to >10 kW
  • Full-cycle hardware development: Concept, modeling, worst-case analysis, schematic capture, simulation, prototyping, design reiteration, testing and validation
  • PCB ownership: Layout and design with ECAD engineers optimizing for power density, EMI, thermal, manufacturability
  • Design for Safety, Manufacturability and Reliability
  • Board Bring Up and Testing: HALT testing to aerospace reliability standards
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Mechanical, CAD, Embedded, Software, Production and aircraft teams
  • Design review leadership: Lead/participate in cross-functional reviews
  • Program execution: Manage timelines, deliverables, and milestones

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • 1+ years of experience as an Electrical Engineer
  • Experience with circuit design, schematic capture, component selection, circuit testing, debugging
  • Familiarity with Altium or equivalent
  • Experience with lab equipment: oscilloscopes, power supplies, E-loads, multimeters
  • Ability to obtain a S//SAR level security clearance desired
  • Demonstrated teamwork, high standards, and collaborative mindset
