About the role

Applied Machine Learning role within Apple’s IS&T organization, focusing on conceptualising, designing, implementing, and running cutting-edge enterprise ML/AI/NLP solutions and reusable platforms. Cross-functional responsibilities with opportunities to work on scalable big-data platforms and generative AI across Apple’s enterprise systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualise, design, implement and run cutting edge ML/AI/NLP solutions
  • Contribute to building reusable platforms
  • Lead and mentor junior team members, provide technical guidance
  • Collaborate effectively with multi-functional teams to deliver complex projects
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in ML and data science and learn new tools as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in building and managing big-data platforms
  • Programming experience in Java
  • Working experience with search and information retrieval (Lucene, Solr, Elasticsearch, Milvus, Vespa)
  • Experience scaling distributed ML and AI systems to handle millions of concurrent requests (desirable)
  • Experience with ML applications in cross-domain contexts (plus)
  • Experience with public cloud (AWS/GCP)
  • Good understanding of AI/ML stack – GPUs, MLFlow, LLM models (plus)
  • Understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL concepts (plus)
  • Experience creating frameworks to deploy platforms in AWS/Azure/GCP
  • Ability to lead and mentor junior team members and collaborate across teams
  • Commitment to staying updated with latest advancements and willingness to learn new tools
