About the role

Postgres Deployment Engineer at Supabase focused on owning stability and deployment of PostgreSQL offerings, contributing to builds/deployments via the public supabase/postgres repository, and bridging product and infrastructure teams to improve reliability of deployments and upgrades.

Responsibilities

  • Packaging software into the supabase/postgres repo using nix flakes or debian packaging
  • Supporting platform release system knowledge expansion for self-service deployment
  • Expanding github actions, team tooling, and testing/release approaches
  • Timely PostgreSQL major, minor, and extension upgrades
  • Proactive identification and resolution of production issues in customer deployments
  • Contributing to best practices, tools, and tests to enhance stability and reduce deployment risk
  • Improve the utility and efficiency of PostgreSQL offerings
  • Collaborate with relevant teams to address postgres stability for build/test/deploy AMI and Docker releases
  • Contribute to enhancement of public GitHub repositories, especially supabase/postgres
  • Develop and expand tooling and solutions within the Supabase ecosystem
  • Engage with customers to ensure solutions meet needs
  • Address and resolve GitHub and Support issues

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience with PostgreSQL and its ecosystem
  • Knowledge of ansible, Nix package management system (including nix flakes), packer, docker, qemu/kvm, aws, and kubernetes deployments
  • Experience with linux and darwin/macos aarch64 targets
  • Experience with conventional and nix-packaged builds of C/C++, Go, javascript, and Rust projects
  • Exposure to public cloud platforms and deployment methodologies
  • Eagerness to improve and expand development tools/stack
  • Comfortable with regular interactions with customers
  • Willingness to work on an integrated system and packaging approach (conventional and Nix-based)
  • Willingness to teach engineering team to learn and contribute to Nix-based work and troubleshoot the platform/postgres stack
