About the role

Founding engineer role at Vindexa, an AI-powered compliance platform for the clean energy industry. First engineering hire responsible for architecture, codebase ownership, and building AI-powered workflows to validate payroll data and regulatory compliance in real time.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, build, and ship full-stack features across React/TypeScript frontend and Supabase/PostgreSQL backend.
  • Write production-quality code at startup speed and leverage AI coding tools.
  • Make and defend architectural decisions: data modeling, API design, security, performance, scalability.
  • Maintain code quality, testing standards, and documentation.
  • Design and implement AI agents and multi-step automation pipelines for the compliance engine.
  • Work with LLMs (Google Gemini and Claude) for extraction, classification, and validation.
  • Build robust, observable, production-grade AI workflows with error handling, retry logic, audit trails, and human-in-the-loop checkpoints.
  • Stay current on AI engineering trends and adopt appropriate tools.
  • Establish engineering patterns and practices scalable with team growth.
  • Own security rigor: data handling, authentication, authorization, and audit logging.
  • Instrument the system: logging, monitoring, error tracking, performance.
  • Potentially recruit, mentor, and lead additional engineers as the team grows.

Qualifications

  • - Genuinely AI-native engineer with experience using Cursor, Windsurf, Claude Code, or equivalent.
  • - Strong full-stack capability: React/TypeScript frontend, Node/TypeScript backend, SQL and relational data modeling.
  • - Experience deploying AI agents and automation workflows in production.
  • - Architectural judgment on when to move fast vs slow, abstract vs hardcode, build vs buy.
  • - Security-minded by default due to handling payroll data, SSNs, and financial records.
  • - Independent operator who can set priorities.
