About the role

Automation & Controls Specialist at Impulse Space responsible for installation and troubleshooting of rocket propulsion test equipment, including electrical wiring, pneumatics, PLCs, and industrial controls hardware. Onsite role based in Mojave, CA, within the Propulsion Test Team.

Responsibilities

  • Install industrial controls hardware to NFPA 70 and NFPA 79 standards
  • Wire and/or modify control panels to UL508A standards
  • Troubleshoot faulty instrumentation and general electrical systems
  • Maintain an electrical shop, tools, consumables, and controls hardware inventory
  • Program/configure various industrial controls hardware (such as VFDs, motor starters, basic PLCs, electronic circuit breakers, etc.)
  • Review and redline drawings and technical documentation and provide design feedback to engineering
  • Use of EPlan for generating reports, manufacturing data, etc.
  • Create, maintain, and update assigned tasks for documenting and reporting work

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 5+ years of work in a relevant field (manufacturing/test/R&D)
  • 4+ years working on electrical control systems
  • Electrical troubleshooting
  • Schematic comprehension
