About the role

SRE role focused on leading and maintaining cloud-based infrastructure for Apple’s Video Computer Vision Organization, with emphasis on deployment, security, scalability, reliability, and hybrid on/off-prem architectures in AWS and Apple infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational support for multiple cloud-based applications with emphasis on deployment, security, scalability and reliability on AWS and Apple infrastructure
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure, tooling, and engineering services for cloud-based applications
  • System bringup, deployment, reliability, security and service scalability
  • Collaborate closely with software development / ML teams developing cutting edge algorithms
  • Drive solutions for hybrid infrastructure (on-prem and cloud) and architecture for AWS-based cloud platform
  • Lead and contribute to the SRE team and mentor engineers in best practices

Qualifications

  • BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience
  • MS in Computer Science/Computer Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years supporting large scale in production applications in an SRE role
  • 3+ years managing SRE teams and supporting mission critical applications
  • 3+ years of Hybrid Cloud infrastructure management
  • Experience with AWS large-scale application deployment and service management through Terraform, Argo, or similar
  • Expert knowledge of Linux, Python, Docker, Kubernetes, Postgres, Redis, and related operations and monitoring
  • Ability to write code in Python (preferred)
  • Experience building systems on-premise and in public cloud (AWS, GCP or Azure)
  • Experience deploying schedulers such as Kubernetes, AWS ECS or EKS
  • Professorial approach to teaching best practices and leveling up engineers
  • Leadership among software development teams and knowledge transfer
  • Expertise in networking with emphasis on security
  • Experience deploying microservices at scale and related strategies
  • Extensive experience with Linux kernel/system tuning
  • Battle-tested with production experience and interesting production tales
