About the role

RTL Design Engineer at Apple UK GPU Design Centre, London. Role involves refining GPU micro-architectural specifications, implementing micro-architecture on cutting-edge technology nodes, optimizing energy efficiency and area, coordinating with architecture, verification and physical design teams, reviewing reports, diagnosing timing and power issues, ensuring QoR, and collaborating through verification and layout stages to deliver high-quality GPU IP.

Responsibilities

  • Refine GPU micro-architectural specifications with architecture, verification and physical design teams.
  • Implement the micro-architecture targeting cutting-edge technology nodes while balancing energy efficiency, performance and area with schedule and maintainability.
  • Review synthesis and power reports, root-cause timing and power issues, and ensure maximal QoR.
  • Collaborate with the verification team to ensure design correctness and thorough testing as the design nears completion.
  • Coordinate with the physical design team to adjust for optimal layout in context, and simulate/debug issues within and around the design after integration into the system.

Qualifications

  • Previous complex IP design experience.
  • Understanding of implementing modern design techniques.
  • Hands on experience with energy-efficient and low-power logic design.
  • Strong background in computer architecture (e.g., high-speed CMOS processor/controllers, cache controllers, bus-interface subsystems, numeric units, graphics processors, crossbar fabrics).
  • Well-versed in logic optimisation, synthesis, timing analysis.
  • Fluency with RTL Verilog/VHDL syntax & hardware modelling.
  • Familiarity with logic simulation and debug environments as well as formal verification.
  • Ability to work well in a team and be productive under tight schedules.
  • Excellent communication skills, self-motivated and well-organised.
