About the role

Machine Learning Engineer role within Apple’s AI and ML organization focused on foundation models, multi-modal models, and data-centric ML. Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and data scientists to design data processing pipelines, modeling methodologies, and evaluation metrics; pursue groundbreaking research and publish results at premier venues.

Responsibilities

  • Innovate and apply state-of-the-art research in foundation models to tackle complex problems.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to participate in data-model co-design and co-development.
  • Design and develop data processing pipelines, modeling methodologies, and effective evaluation metrics.
  • Publish and present groundbreaking research at premier academic venues.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in STEM
  • 7+ years of experience developing and evaluating ML applications
  • Demonstrated expertise in computer vision, natural language processing, and machine learning with a data-centric ML focus
  • Deep understanding of multi-modal foundation models
  • Strong software development skills with Python; hands-on experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX
  • Passion for understanding and improving model/data quality
  • Ability to formulate ML problems, design/experiment/implement/communicate solutions
  • Hands-on mindset to own projects from inception to shipping products
  • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated publication records in conferences (e.g., CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR) and track record of applying ML to cross-disciplinary problems
  • Demonstrated leadership in advancing ML R&D, mentoring, or leading collaborations that impact outcomes
