About the role

Performance-focused architect role within Apple’s Architecture group, shaping how hardware and software interact across Apple SoCs. Responsible for developing and validating performance models for multi-media IPs, collaborating cross-functionally to explore architectural ideas, and contributing to GPU hardware areas including ray tracing and programmable shader cores.

Responsibilities

  • Own the performance models of several complex multimedia IPs in Apple’s SoCs and use them for data-driven architectural exploration and validation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, verify, and use performance models for future hardware concepts.
  • Develop prototype software implementations for simulated future hardware and gather data to validate concepts.
  • Collaborate with system architecture, software engineering, and design teams to assess feasibility of ideas.
  • Present concepts to wider teams and create/evolve high-level specifications for designers, micro-architects and SW teams.

Qualifications

  • A strong background in GPU, CPU, DSP or ISP architecture
  • Knowledge of micro architectural specification and implementation
  • Ability to combine micro-architecture knowledge and performance bottleneck analysis on relevant workloads to conceive novel ideas
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex issues, self-motivated and well-organised
  • Familiarity with performance simulation environments and ability to translate ideas from concept to C/C++ simulator implementation
