About the role

Data Center Construction Project Manager responsible for leading and coordinating multi-project construction activities within Apple’s US-based data center campuses, partnering with Real Estate, Legal, Design, EH&S, Energy, Construction, Network and Operations to deliver mission-critical data center projects and major capital upgrades.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple data center construction projects including equipment upgrades and modifications within live production environments in parallel with new construction efforts.
  • Coordinate with project partners from Real Estate, Legal, Design, EH&S, Energy, Construction, Network and Operations to bring projects to fruition.
  • Represent Apple’s interests at meetings with consultants, General Contractors, and suppliers.
  • Meet with internal strategic engineering groups, operations and business units to determine detailed project requirements.
  • Drive internal and external partners to meet deadlines per the project delivery schedule.
  • Build and maintain project budgets including securing internal approvals for capital funding.
  • Lead General Contractors (GCs) including competitive bidding and negotiation.
  • Review and comment on contracts and terms and conditions related to costing and deliverables.
  • Review proposals and change order requests from consultants, GCs, suppliers, and subcontractors; prepare and present comparative cost analyses.
  • Oversee commissioning agents, reviewing sequence of operations and test scripts.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years demonstrated ability as a data center (mission-critical, critical facilities, Semiconductor or similar) construction project manager
  • Experience leading and supporting architects, engineers, and other specialty consultants from initial programming to construction completion
  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field, or equivalent job-related experience
  • Background in data center/commercial/industrial construction including MEP (mechanical, electrical, process piping, plumbing), tenant improvements, site work and ground-up construction
  • Skilled in reading design and construction drawings for all fields
  • Experience with utility infrastructure and coordination of local utilities to site
  • Ability to professionally represent Apple’s interests at meetings with consultants, GCs, and suppliers
  • Experience in driving internal and external partners to meet deadlines per project delivery schedule
  • Building and maintaining project budgets and securing internal capital funding approvals
  • Ability to lead GCs with competitive bidding and negotiation
  • Experience reviewing contracts and change orders related to costing and deliverables
  • Experience with proposals and change orders from multiple vendors; ability to perform comparative cost analyses
  • Prior management and oversight of commissioning agents; experience reviewing sequences of operations and test scripts
