About the role

Lead all aspects of development for mission-critical data center construction projects, coordinating with cross-functional teams to deliver energy-efficient data centers on US and global campuses while managing live production environments and major capital upgrades.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of development for data center construction projects within a portfolio of US and global campuses.
  • Coordinate with Real Estate, Legal, Design, EH&S, Energy, Construction, Network and Operations to bring projects to fruition.
  • Manage multiple projects including equipment upgrades and modifications within live production environments alongside new construction.
  • Lead General Contractors (GCs) including competitive bidding and negotiation.
  • Review all proposals and change order requests from Consultants, GCs, Suppliers, and Subcontractors; prepare and present comparative cost analysis.
  • Manage commissioning agents with experience in reviewing sequence of operations and test scripts.
  • Build and maintain project budget including securing internal approvals for capital funding.
  • Meet with internal strategic engineering groups, operations and business units to determine detailed project requirements.
  • Drive internal and external partners to meet deadlines per project delivery schedule.
  • professionally represent Apple’s interests at meetings with Consultants, General Contractors, and Suppliers.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years demonstrated ability as a data center (mission-critical, critical facilities, Semiconductor, Energy, Hyperscale or similar) construction project manager
  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field, or equivalent job-related experience
  • Experience leading and supporting architects, engineers, and other specialty consultants from initial programming to construction completion
  • Strong background in data center/commercial/industrial construction including MEP, broad building systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, process piping), tenant improvements TI, site work and ground up construction
  • Skilled in reading design and construction drawings for all trades
  • Experience with utility infrastructure, including construction and coordination of local utilities to site
  • Ability to professionally represent Apple’s interests at meetings with Consultants, General Contractors, and Suppliers
  • Experience in driving internal and external partners to meet deadlines per project delivery schedule
