About the role

High-ownership backend role on the Insights Platform, building data ingestion, query infrastructure, analytics visualization, and data governance for Applied Intuition’s physical AI tooling suite.

Responsibilities

  • Ingestion & Data Reliability — ensure correctness, freshness, and reliability of data at scale from diverse upstream sources.
  • Query Critical Path — optimize latency, correctness, and stability for all platform queries.
  • Dashboarding & Autonomy-Native Visualization — develop analytics surfaces including geospatial views, log/simulation playback, and domain-specific renderers.
  • Agentic Analytics — design architecture for natural language understanding of user intent and data concepts to deliver answers and dashboards via language.
  • Data Discoverability & Governance — enable understanding of data provenance and usage for users and agents.
  • Dataset Lifecycle Management — maintain healthy, performant data lakehouse as data volumes scale.
  • Data Wrangling & Transformation — provide data preparation and ETL capabilities within the product.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of industry experience
  • Experience building production data infrastructure, platform engineering, or distributed systems
  • Experience with large-scale data processing and query execution at production scale
  • Strong backend engineering fundamentals: API design, service reliability, query optimization, distributed system trade-offs, telemetry and monitoring
  • Experience with data lakehouse architectures, table formats, or query federation is a strong plus
  • Comfort operating across the stack — from storage and query engines to APIs and product-facing tooling
  • Familiarity with building for observability: metrics, alerting, and operational health of data systems
  • Experience developing, testing, and shipping software with coding agents
  • Bonus: experience with LLM tool use, developing agentic workflows, or semantic layers for natural language interfaces
  • Bonus: exposure to multimodal data, geospatial systems, or AV/robotics tooling
