About the role

Senior role developing Freeform's AI-native manufacturing systems with a focus on automation, machine functionality, part quality, and DFAM. Owns cradle-to-grave projects from concept to printing, testing, and delivery, contributing to system architecture and end-to-end print production improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Understand printing system capabilities and roadmap; collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to automate printing for high-volume production
  • Drive all stages of print production development including file preparation, printing, post-processing, and quality control
  • Analyze in-situ data and post-print part quality to drive continuous improvement
  • Apply first-principles thinking to define test methods, evaluate solutions, iterate, and provide technical recommendations to stakeholders
  • Document application requirements, statements of work, SOPs, next steps and action items to align internal and external teams
  • Interface with external customers to communicate Freeform’s technical capabilities; collaborate on improving Design for Additive Manufacturing (DFAM)
  • Contribute to internal technology development via feedback from stakeholders through detailed design and systems-level improvements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar technical discipline
  • 5+ years of professional experience with additive manufacturing
  • 2+ years of professional experience with direct metal laser sintering (DMLS)
  • Experience with print file preparation
  • Experience with DFAM and CAD software
