About the role

Data Center Project Manager, Mechanical to oversee the full lifecycle of mechanical systems for Apple’s data center construction projects, from design and procurement through commissioning and closeout. Partners with design, contractors, and internal teams to deliver mission-critical data center facilities safely, on time, and on budget.

Responsibilities

  • PROJECT PLANNING & PRE-CONSTRUCTION: participate in pre-construction planning including schedule development, contractor procurement support, and scope validation; review Basis of Design (BOD) and Scope of Work (SOW) for mechanical and BMS controls systems; attend design review meetings with A/E partners focusing on constructability, BMS integration, equipment sequencing, and system coordination; review BMS sequence of operations, control schematics, and points lists during design; support value engineering and verify compliance with ASHRAE standards, NFPA 90A, IMC, local codes; coordinate with electrical, controls, and network workstreams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience focused on hyperscale or large-scale colocation data center construction and commissioning
  • Experience managing mechanical equipment procurement lifecycle (bid leveling, PO issuance, shop drawing review, vendor milestone schedules, ROJ delivery)
  • Hands-on experience developing and executing Commissioning Plans, schedules, and checklists for mechanical and BMS controls systems
  • Experience overseeing TAB activities and reporting per ASHRAE 111, AABC, or NEBB
  • Working knowledge of BMS controls systems (sequence of operations, submittals, testing, VFDs, setpoints, PID tuning, alarms)
  • Knowledge of data center cooling infrastructure (chilled water, cooling towers, CRAHs/CRACs, AHUs, pumps, piping)
  • Ability to read construction documents (MPs, P&IDs, BMS schematics, equipment schedules)
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE, NFPA 90A, IMC, mechanical codes, and construction safety standards
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 40-50%
  • PMP certification or equivalent
  • PE license in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience coordinating IST/Cx testing (Level 1-5) with IST documentation
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with BMS platforms (e.g., Johnson Controls Metasys) and energy modeling/tools
