About the role

Senior Director of Business Development to accelerate growth and support adoption of Shield AI’s autonomy ecosystem (X-BAT, V-BAT, ViDAR, Hivemind) across Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. Lead regional growth strategy, build and manage a local team, and establish defense partnerships with governments and industry.

Responsibilities

  • Own and execute regional go-to-market strategy for Japan/South Korea/Taiwan for Shield AI’s product portfolio (X-BAT, V-BAT, ViDAR, Hivemind).

Qualifications

  • 10+ years business development experience in defense, aerospace, or national security within Japan/South Korea/Taiwan or broader region.
  • Specific defense or government-facing experience in Japan/South Korea/Taiwan with understanding of procurement, offsets, export controls, local primes, and indigenization.
  • Fluency in English and Japanese preferable (written and spoken).
  • Proven track record closing complex defense or government programs, ideally spanning hardware (aircraft/UAS) and software (autonomy/AI).
  • Technical experience with autonomy, UAVs, ISR, and advanced sensing technologies.
  • Strong negotiation, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent pursuits in ambiguous environments; cross-functional leadership across operations, product, and BD.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently domestically and internationally and work across multiple time zones.
  • Based today in Tokyo, Japan.
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office tools and experience with Salesforce for forecasting and deal tracking.
