About the role

Biomedical optics engineer to develop optical health sensors for Apple Watch and AirPods, build research platforms, run user studies, and communicate findings to cross-functional teams and leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Develop research platforms to investigate novel sensing solutions and use modeling tools to correlate empirical observations with sensor behavior.
  • Define sensing requirements for multidisciplinary sensor architectures for product integration.
  • Design and conduct user studies and analyze data to demonstrate applications of sensing solutions.
  • Summarize findings and communicate results clearly to the team and senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • BS in Biomedical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or related field.
  • Proficiency in programming languages for hardware control and signal processing (e.g., MATLAB, Python, LabView).
  • Experience with optical ray-tracing tools (LightTools, Zemax) for system design.
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical engineering principles to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills for up-leveling complex technical findings.
