About the role

SOC Performance Modeling SW Architect responsible for performance models and infrastructure to enable high-quality, timely data for hardware design across CPUs, GPUs, ML, Camera, Display, and Connectivity in Apple's SoC. Role spans from architectural exploration to post-silicon correlation, emphasizing performance, maintainability, and AI-assisted development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop performance models and infrastructure to translate design space studies into software models
  • Transform hardware execution models into high-performance C++
  • Involved with full life-cycle of performance modeling, from early architectural exploration to post-silicon correlation
  • Ensure simulator performance, maintainability, and flexibility to enable rapid iteration by hardware architects
  • Appreciate C++ features to maximize the utility of software models
  • Develop APIs usable by non-expert C++ developers
  • Train AI agents and non-expert C++ developers on idiomatic code
  • Prepare codebase for AI-assisted development tools
  • Write clear, self-documenting code with consistent conventions, naming, and modular organization
  • Learn state of the art in SoC IP and chip-level architecture
  • Work on data analysis pipelines, visualization methods, and continuous regression testing
  • Run performance simulations
  • Analyze and present simulation results

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience in hardware architecture and design issues
  • Experience coding in C++ and Python and binding C++ to other languages
  • Experience with computer architecture and software engineering principles
  • Experience with data structures and algorithms
  • Experience using software models to collect behavioral characteristics and transform data into performance analysis
