About the role

Senior ML Engineer to join Apple's Search Safety team, building and deploying state-of-the-art ML models to detect, demote, and filter harmful or policy-violating content across the search ecosystem. Focus areas include query understanding, adversarial robustness, and multimodal content filtering to protect users while maintaining search relevance.

Responsibilities

  • Build and deploy state-of-the-art machine learning models to detect, demote, and filter harmful, abusive, or policy-violating content across the search ecosystem.
  • Work at the intersection of Search, NLP, Image and Trust & Safety to address challenges like query intent understanding, adversarial evasion, jailbreaking, and multimodal content filtering.
  • Translate product requirements into modeling tasks and engineering tasks.
  • Balance safety constraints with search relevance and user engagement within ranking and retrieval pipelines.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of industry related experience, working in collaborative environments
  • Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX for training and deploying deep learning models
  • Understanding product requirements then translating them into modeling tasks and engineering tasks
  • Proficiency in at least two programming languages such as Python, Go, Java, C/C++
  • BS in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Safety, Computer Vision or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Experience working on content moderation, spam detection, fraud, or Trust & Safety ML teams
  • Experience in red-teaming, adversarial training, or robustness evaluation of ML models
  • MS or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Safety, Computer Vision or related field or equivalent work experience
