About the role
PermitPortal is an applied AI company building AI agents to help with pre-construction permitting and regulatory navigation. The Founding Engineer role involves building the product as part of a small founding team, contributing across the stack, and helping shape the company’s technical direction from Bucharest or Remote (US).
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain core features of the PermitPortal platform (full-stack responsibilities)
- Collaborate with founders to define product and technical roadmap
- Contribute to architectural decisions and system design
- Implement AI-driven insights to monitor regulatory environments and surface actionable intelligence
- Participate in take-home tasks and code reviews as part of the interview process
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in software engineering
- Experience as a full-stack engineer
- Willingness to work in a founding team environment
- Ability to work from Bucharest, RO or remotely for US-time zones
- US citizen/visa only (visa restriction noted in job description)
