About the role
Product Manager responsible for strategy, research, and execution for DroneStack, shaping a scalable multi-customer product line for autonomous drone software and hardware used in contested and denied environments.
Responsibilities
- Own product strategy for DroneStack. Define the roadmap that transitions the team from program-driven deliveries to a scalable, multi-customer product line. Make hard prioritization calls across ISR, strike, hardware, and tooling.
- Become the voice of the operator. Conduct primary user research in the field and with international partners; travel up to 20% (including internationally).
- Drive the programs-to-products transition. Identify patterns across current customer engagements and define abstractions, configurations, and interfaces to turn one-off solutions into repeatable products.
- Shape product design and experience. Collaborate with engineering to design operator interfaces (mission control, mission planning, mission review) that are intuitive for non-technical users in the field.
- Set the technical direction with engineering. Balance near-term delivery with long-term product architecture; understand the system well enough to make informed tradeoffs.
- Build and communicate a market thesis. Develop a point of view on the autonomous drone market across DoD, allied nations, and commercial applications.
- Represent the product internally and externally. Act as the bridge between DroneStack engineering, defense business development, and customers; present at demos, program reviews, and industry events.
Qualifications
- 5–7 years of product management experience across at least two meaningfully different environments.
- Track record of shipping products end-to-end from research and strategy through design, build, launch, and iteration.
- Exceptional research instincts with experience learning a new market from scratch through user interviews, workflow study, and doctrine review.
- Comfort with deep technical systems; experience with hardware + software, real-time systems, developer tools, or infrastructure.
- Strong design sensibility and experience collaborating with designers on UX for workflow-heavy or operations-focused tools.
- Clear, structured communication; ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences (e.g., senior leadership to engineers).
- BS/BA in a technical or analytical field; advanced degrees welcome but not required.
