About the role

Technical Lead Manager responsible for owning and leading the perception model within Applied Intuition's autonomy stack. Manages the perception team, guides architecture and training decisions, and ensures cross-geography generalization from camera-first perception to embedded deployment across multiple vehicle platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Own the perception model end-to-end: architecture, training, evaluation, and deployment.
  • Drive a camera-first perception strategy to reduce reliance on HD maps and lidar.
  • Lead training and iteration cycles hands-on (data, evaluation dashboards, failure analysis).
  • Own model performance across all deployment surfaces (highway, urban, residential, ramps, intersections, poor weather, hilly terrain).
  • Manage model lifecycle from training through quantization and deployment on embedded compute, including device-specific optimizations.
  • Collaborate with OEM programs to understand sensor configurations, target ODDs, and performance requirements; translate into architecture and data strategy.
  • Recruit, develop, and technically lead a team of perception engineers; set high standards and foster rigorous experimentation and measurement.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in ML/deep learning for perception or 3D scene understanding (hands-on experience with vision models at scale).
  • 2+ years managing or technically leading a perception team (architecture and training decisions).
  • Experience building production perception systems (camera-only or camera-first).
  • Proven ability deploying perception models to embedded hardware under real-time latency and compute constraints, including device-specific optimizations.
  • Strong software engineering in Python and C++, across training to onboard inference integration.
  • Experience scaling perception models across geographies, sensor setups, or vehicle platforms.
