About the role

Senior Windows kernel-mode driver developer focused on device drivers, virtualization enablement, and platform software for AMD power IP and related features. Role spans pre-silicon architecture through post-silicon delivery, collaborating across architecture, hardware, firmware, validation, and product teams to deliver production-ready Windows drivers with WHQL certification.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and support Windows kernel-mode device drivers for AMD platform features and power IP enablement.
  • Drive driver development activities across pre-silicon and post-silicon phases, from architecture alignment through product delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical dependencies, manage execution priorities, and meet program commitments.
  • Implement and debug paravirtualized driver solutions using VirtIO architecture and related virtualization technologies.
  • Analyze and resolve complex issues involving PCIe enumeration, configuration space, interrupts, DMA, and guest-host memory sharing.
  • Partner with virtualization, firmware, validation, and platform teams to improve driver stability, performance, and production readiness.
  • Debug kernel-level issues using Windows debugging tools, crash dump analysis, and root cause investigation methods.
  • Support delivery of production-quality Windows drivers aligned with certification and product quality expectations.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in Windows kernel-mode driver development.
  • Hands-on experience with VirtIO architecture and paravirtualized drivers.
  • Strong background in Windows driver frameworks such as KMDF, with exposure to WDM or UMDF considered a plus.
  • Strong proficiency in C/C++.
  • Experience with Windows kernel debugging tools, including WinDbg and crash dump analysis.
  • Good understanding of PCIe enumeration, configuration space, interrupts, MSI/MSI-X, DMA, and memory sharing between guest and host.
  • Familiarity with virtualization stacks such as Xen, KVM, and QEMU device models.
  • Experience delivering production-quality, WHQL-certified drivers.
  • Knowledge of Windows device driver development, WDM, UMDF, Xen, and WHQL certification workflows.
  • Strong communication, ownership, problem-solving, and cross-team collaboration skills.
