About the role

Leader of the team responsible for Apple's connectivity to email providers and related data foundations across Mail, Calendar, Reminders, Notes, and Contacts. Based in San Diego, focused on data integrity and enabling intelligence features at Apple scale while partnering with Cupertino teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a diverse team of engineers and testing-focused engineers, fostering a culture of quality, collaboration, and inclusion.
  • Own Apple's technical relationships with major email providers such as Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft, driving integrations and resolving provider-specific challenges.
  • Ensure the reliability and integrity of data flowing from all email providers into Mail and Microsoft integration across Mail, Calendar, Reminders, Notes, and Contacts.
  • Serve as a site leader in San Diego, partnering with cross-functional teams in Cupertino to integrate the site into the broader Mail organization.

Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Some experience with email and communication protocols (e.g., IMAP, SMTP, EWS, CardDAV, CalDAV) and a strong grasp of client/server communication patterns.
  • Experience working directly with external partners or third-party services, including negotiating technical integrations and navigating provider-specific constraints.
  • Strong testing philosophy and experience leading or closely collaborating with engineers in test and triage roles, with emphasis on reliability and data integrity.
  • Energized by site-level leadership and the opportunity to help build and scale an engineering location.
  • You care about helping others grow in their careers at Apple.
  • History of hiring and mentoring a diverse team of engineers.
  • Ability to act as an arbitrator for tough technical debates and take an Apple-wide perspective in decision-making.
