About the role

Part of a small, visible team of Mechanical Engineers on Apple’s Watch design team, delivering the next generation of wearable devices. Collaborates with cross-functional groups to design, prototype, validate, and drive failure analysis for the Watch across sizes and materials.

Responsibilities

  • Build prototypes for design validation and drive failure analysis.
  • Lead projects in a multi-functional setting with vendors and internal teams.
  • Collaborate with Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering, Antenna, Reliability, Sensors, Environmental, and Marketing to bring future products to life.
  • Own parts through production stages and engage with vendors to ensure successful parts/assemblies.
  • Layout and build custom PCBs/FPCs in collaboration with electrical engineers.
  • Design and integrate batteries, flexible circuits, and PCBs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelorʼs in mechanical engineering or related discipline
  • Masters degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline
  • 3+ years of mechanical design experience with various fabrication processes
  • 3+ years of consumer electronics design experience with large multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong mechanical design skills and ability to lead projects
  • Excellent communication skills with vendors in Asia and internal teams
  • Proficiency in Siemens NX (components, assemblies, drawings)
  • Working knowledge of FEA
  • Understanding of tight-tolerance fabrication, assembly techniques, and GD&T
  • Experience with DFM, DFA and statistical tolerance analysis
  • Application of statistical tools and techniques
  • Experience with metrology and interpreting FAI data
  • Experience owning parts across production stages and engaging with vendors
  • Experience designing and integrating batteries, PCBs, flexible circuits
