About the role

IS&T’s G&A Solutions Engineering team seeks a Software Application Support Engineer to build and manage enterprise employee systems. The role combines hands-on support, coding, and collaboration with development, QA, and business partners to improve performance, availability, and scalability of Employee Systems, with a focus on automation and reliable operation at global scale.

Responsibilities

  • Engineer and maintain innovative software applications.
  • Support operations and work with development engineers on architectural design and complex feature/fix implementations.
  • Improve performance, availability, scalability and monitoring of all Employee Systems.
  • Collaborate with business partners, other engineering teams, QA and management.
  • Coordinate with a global team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Emphasize code quality and functional quality as key success measures.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience supporting mission critical production applications in an enterprise environment AND 3+ years of Software development experience building highly scalable RESTful web services, or some combination of both.
  • Java development, J2EE, and related experience.
  • Knowledge of databases like Oracle and MongoDB; ability to understand SQL and query tuning as well as database performance optimization.
  • Track record of using a logical debugging methodology to solve complex production issues in a customer-facing role.
  • Strong incident management and change/configuration management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of SOAP and RESTful web services; experience with Spring; knowledge of Kafka.
  • Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, Nagios, AppDynamics, Dynatrace).
  • Cross-functional collaboration to resolve large-scale production issues.
