About the role

Role focused on predictive finite element analysis to drive design of Apple products using simulation, validation and cross-functional collaboration from early stages of development to engineer groundbreaking products.

Responsibilities

  • Build and run product models for important design load cases.
  • Interact closely with the cross functional design team to define new load cases and product level mechanical requirements.
  • Help test, characterize and develop new material models.
  • Close the gaps between simulation and test with highly instrumented tests and rigorous validation.
  • Be fully integrated with the product design team from the earliest stages to engineer ground breaking products.

Qualifications

  • M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Structural Engineering, or similar discipline required along with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in implicit and explicit finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Strong knowledge of solid mechanics.
  • Attention to details and commitment to verification/validation.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment with passion for creating cutting edge products.
  • Experience with Abaqus, ANSA and META.
  • Experience with system level modeling and simulation.
  • Experience with the mechanical behavior of materials and constitutive modeling.
  • Self-motivated to identify areas for improvement and drive innovation.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration and written and verbal communication.
  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Structural Engineering, or similar discipline.
