About the role

Undergraduate ML internship at Apple focusing on machine learning methods and applications, collaboration with researchers, engineers, and PMs, with mentorship and opportunities to present work to leadership. Emphasis on privacy, accessibility, fairness, and advancing state-of-the-art ML through research and practical projects.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and program/project managers to tackle innovative ML challenges.
  • Design and implement an innovative ML solution for a meaningful ML problem with your team.
  • Explore new methods, apply ML to ambitious problems, advance technology through research and publications, and challenge metrics or protocols.
  • Receive technical mentorship and guidance to learn new skills and gain real-world experience.
  • Present your work to leadership at the end of the internship.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing an undergraduate (BS/BA) degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or related field
  • End of internship requires returning to school or it must be the last requirement to graduate
  • Proficiency with an object-oriented programming language (Python, Swift, Objective C, Java)
  • Experience with ML libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch, CoreFlow, Sklearn)
  • Practical knowledge of building/adapting ML algorithms, speech, multimodal sensing, and related areas
  • Familiarity with prototyping/evaluating interactive systems
  • Excellent skills in linear algebra and statistics
  • Experience conducting ethnographic or other situated studies of human interaction with interactive technologies; ability to craft, conduct, analyze, and interpret experiments/investigations
  • Expertise in at least one of: statistics, econometrics, operations research, quantitative marketing, causal inference, time series analysis, stochastic modeling, optimization and decision making theory
  • Ability to collaborate with others
  • Problem solving skills
