About the role

Apple’s Display Technologies group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and develop innovative display modules for future products. The role involves defining mechanical architecture, interfacing with cross-functional teams and suppliers, validating designs, supporting production ramp-up, and ensuring high yield and quality through validation and failure analyses. Travel (~15%, primarily Asia) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Define the module mechanical architecture based on optical, electrical, mechanical, and cross-functional requirements.
  • Define interface to the product including fit, assembly features, and tolerance analyses and deliver specifications including 3D/2D.
  • Support product through engineering development, mass-production ramp-up, and launch.
  • Achieve system goals through mechanical design optimization, prototyping, material qualification, and manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct factory audits to review manufacturing and assembly for yield and quality.
  • Define and implement validation plans for ME characteristics of display modules using scientific/analytical approaches.
  • Drive detailed failure analyses to reach robust corrective actions.
  • Ensure specifications are met throughout the supply chain and communicate validation results to peers and leadership.
  • Travel internationally (~15%), primarily Asia.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum)
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with at least 8 years of experience
  • Expertise in mechanical engineering fundamentals (materials properties, solid mechanics, beam statics, Newtonian physics, thermodynamics)
  • Experience leading mechanical design & validation
  • 3D/2D software experience (Pro/E, NX, CATIA, or Solidworks)
  • Experience with diverse manufacturing techniques and materials
  • Failure analysis experience
