About the role

Apple's US Decision Intelligence (DI) team seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer who sits at the intersection of business and engineering to translate frontline problems into shippable AI solutions, embedding with Sales teams and collaborating with data science, product management, and engineering to build prototypes and evolve the internal AI-driven insight platform.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical bridge between Sales teams and the product and engineering organization, translating frontline business problems into engineering specifications and shippable solutions.
  • Embed directly with Sales teams to understand workflows, gather actionable signals on platform gaps, and act as the trusted technical partner.
  • Build prototypes, demos, and reference implementations on top of the platform that solve concrete Sales problems quickly, then distill valuable patterns into reusable abstractions.
  • Partner with the data science team to operationalize models, scoring algorithms, and analytical workflows into scalable services.
  • Partner with Software and AI Engineering teams to integrate Sales-facing solutions with platform APIs, SDKs, and shared services, driving self-service adoption.
  • Act as the voice of the user to inform roadmap timing and prioritization.
  • Build internal community around the platform with tutorials, onboarding materials, and demos for Sales users and partner engineers.
  • Partner with Data Science, Software and AI Engineering, and Product Management to connect strategy to execution and align teams without direct authority.
  • Communicate status, trade-offs, and outcomes to business partners, engineering teams, and leadership across the lifecycle of engagements.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Architecture, full-stack product engineering, or related cross-functional role.
  • Demonstrated customer obsession and product thinking, translating vague requirements into concrete engineering specifications.
  • Strong full-stack engineering skills with proficiency in Python and JavaScript/Node.js, able to ship prototypes end-to-end.
  • Familiarity with SQL and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Snowflake) and analytics workflows.
  • Functional literacy in AI/ML concepts, lifecycle of LLM-powered systems, and trade-offs involved.
  • Experience partnering with applied/data scientists and operationalizing prototype code into production-grade services.
  • Working knowledge of REST APIs, GraphQL, microservices, and distributed systems.
  • Comfortable leveraging AI-assisted development tools to accelerate prototyping and code generation, with ability to review AI outputs.
