About the role

Lead development of quality processes for new parts within Apple’s Manufacturing Design team. Define quality, metrology and process requirements and influence how new manufacturing processes are designed, enabling scalable production of high-quality parts.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with tooling and functional teams to evaluate design and processes at the concept phase
  • Develop measurement technologies, control strategies, information systems, and manufacturing methods that achieve ambitious specifications at substantial production scale
  • Develop and implement groundbreaking quality inspection tools to evaluate cosmetic and dimensional part characteristics
  • Compile and evaluate data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process and part specifications
  • Lead activities to balance unparalleled quality with scalable yields
  • Collaborate with internal and external groups to ensure proper definition of quality expectations and appropriate assurance techniques are used for the product
  • Coordinate and prioritize all Quality Engineering functions for multiple program for team members
  • Continue to expand the capabilities of the team and recruit new engineers
  • Establish audit procedures appropriate to program and supplier to ensure alignment to Apple quality standards
  • Evaluate and communicate yields of new and existing processes
  • Drive corrective actions with internal and external team members

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience with hands-on manufacturing experience, supplier management, and quality control (manufacturing quality statistical analysis, GD&T, metrology, design of experiments, etc)
  • Ability to travel internationally to supplier sites - 30%
  • BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing/Systems, Chemical Engineering or similar such as Industrial Technology, Materials Science, etc)
  • Experience with any of the following: mechanical enclosures, castings, plastic parts, injection molding, stamping, tooling, jigs, fixtures, or automotive high volume quality manufacturing engineering
  • International experience, particularly in Asia, is a plus
