About the role
Founding engineer role at Rescript, an early YC-funded startup building an AI platform to interpret global regulations and support regulatory compliance for legal and public policy teams. Role involves owning features end-to-end, building data pipelines, AI agents, and product experiences beyond chat, with heavy emphasis on user interaction and working with government materials.
Responsibilities
- Talk to users every week, understand their pain points, and rapidly build and refine solutions.
- Learn to work directly with dense government materials (e.g. legislation, regulations, hearings, etc.) and understand what matters to users.
- Build robust pipelines to turn messy first-party data into structured, reliable inputs for downstream applications.
- Build and evaluate AI agents that can reason over government and customer data to answer user questions.
- Build product experiences beyond chat, including tabular review, search interfaces, document editors, and video tools.
Qualifications
- You've shipped software/AI applications to real users and utilize AI effectively in your own work.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work across product design, backend, and infra.
- Excited to work and speak directly with (non-technical) customers, with the ability to translate complex needs into clear product and technical specifications.
- Comfortable with ambiguity, moving fast, and taking ownership.
- Interest in the problems that Rescript is solving and learning about law, policy, and government.
