About the role

Engineering Managers to lead remote, globally distributed engineering teams across Supabase, focusing on people, delivery, and technical excellence without mandatory code contribution.

Responsibilities

  • Build a healthy, high-trust team culture in a remote-first, globally distributed environment.
  • Run 1:1s, performance management, career development, and onboarding for direct reports.
  • Handle people admin (leave, time off, etc.) for the team.
  • Own the hiring plan for the team and act as Hiring Manager; conduct first-round interviews for all roles on the team.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to source, interview, and close strong candidates.
  • Contribute to headcount planning, org design, and evolution of engineering leadership at Supabase.
  • Own the team's roadmap and project management (Linear), driving accountability and milestones.
  • Manage workflow intake and Slack triage; prioritize and route cross-team requests.
  • Own the team's weekly updates and stakeholder alignment.
  • Organize effort against support tickets and maintain the team's SLO.
  • Surface risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs early and clearly to leadership.
  • Train as an Incident Commander; drive coordination, resolution, and post-incident follow-up.
  • Lead blameless post-incident reviews.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of engineering background with credibility building complex systems.
  • 3+ years managing remote engineering teams.
  • Managed engineering teams at a cloud, SaaS, or developer tools company; experience with developer tools or databases is preferred.
  • Experience managing remote, globally distributed teams that work asynchronously across time zones.
  • Strong people management passion and ability to build psychological safety and a feedback culture.
  • Ability to be a multiplier, removing blockers and empowering engineers.
  • Track record of performance management with examples of difficult conversations.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and ability to build structure where needed.
  • Clear written communication and async collaboration skills.
  • Collaborative, low-ego, adaptable mindset working with senior ICs.
