About the role

Prism is a program within Radial, the basic life sciences division of the Astera Institute. We are building open infrastructure for studying protein dynamics and seeking leaders who can drive high-impact change in funding, conducting, and communicating science. Roles span computational/data science, ML research, dataset generation, software/infrastructure, and program/operations.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to or lead projects across Prism’s program areas (computational/data science, ML for macromolecules, dataset generation/open release, software/infrastructure, program/operations).
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams including computational biologists, ML researchers, software engineers, and program staff.
  • Drive end-to-end projects, unblock collaborators, and communicate results clearly.
  • Support open-science and public-good infrastructure initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with protein biophysics and structural data generation methods.
  • High agency and ability to drive projects without waiting for direction.
  • Experience driving projects and people, including collaborators outside direct reporting lines.
  • Comfort owning problems end-to-end and unblocking collaborators.
  • Strong commitment to open science and open infrastructure.
  • Ability to work at interdisciplinary boundaries.
  • Bias toward shipping, iteration, and rapid feedback.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.
  • Track record of independent work within collaborative teams.
