About the role

The Insights platform provides data and analytics tooling for Applied Intuition’s physical AI development workflow, spanning data ingestion, query infrastructure, dataset management, visualization, agentic analytics, governance, and lifecycle management. This role involves high ownership on a small team building infrastructure used by autonomy engineers for sensor logs, simulations, KPIs, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Ingestion & Data Reliability — ensure correctness, freshness, and reliability across diverse upstream sources at scale.
  • Query Critical Path — optimize latency, correctness, and stability for all product queries.
  • Dashboarding & Autonomy-Native Visualization — build domain-specific visualizations and integrations (geographic views, log/simulation playback, renderers).
  • Agentic Analytics — design architecture for AI to understand user intent, reason about data, and deliver NL-driven insights.
  • Data Discoverability & Governance — enable data discoverability and proper usage provenance.
  • Dataset Lifecycle Management — maintain health and performance of the data lakehouse as volume grows.
  • Data Wrangling & Transformation — provide tools for user-driven data prep and ETL within the product.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of industry experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent
  • Experience building production data infrastructure, platform engineering, or distributed systems
  • Experience with large-scale data processing and query execution at production scale
  • Strong backend engineering fundamentals: API design, service reliability, query optimization, distributed system trade-offs, telemetry and monitoring
  • Experience with data lakehouse architectures, table formats, or query federation (strong plus)
  • Comfort operating across the stack—from storage and query engines to APIs and product-facing tooling
  • Familiarity with building for observability: metrics, alerting, operational health of data systems
  • Experience developing, testing, and shipping software with coding agents
  • Bonus: experience with LLM tool use, developing agentic workflows, or semantic layers for natural language interfaces
  • Bonus: exposure to multimodal data, geospatial systems, or AV/robotics tooling
