About the role

Technical Lead Manager for the perception model in Applied Intuition's Self-Driving Systems, owning end-to-end perception architecture, training, evaluation, deployment, and team leadership across geographies and vehicle platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Own the perception model end-to-end: architecture, training, evaluation, and deployment.
  • Drive a camera-first perception strategy to reduce HD map and lidar dependencies.
  • Lead training and iteration cycles; be in data, evaluation dashboards, and failure analysis.
  • Own model performance across deployment surfaces (highway, urban, residential, ramps, intersections, poor weather, hilly terrain).
  • Manage the model lifecycle from training through quantization and embedded deployment with device-specific optimizations.
  • Collaborate with OEM customer programs to understand sensor configurations and performance requirements; translate to architecture and data strategy.
  • Recruit, develop, and technically lead a team of perception engineers; set high technical standards and foster rigorous experimentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in any field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in ML/deep learning for perception or 3D scene understanding; hands-on experience training and deploying vision models at scale.
  • 2+ years managing a perception team with ability to set direction and contribute to architecture/training decisions.
  • Experience building production perception systems, especially camera-only or camera-first solutions.
  • Track record deploying perception models to embedded hardware under real-time latency/compute constraints with device-specific optimizations.
  • Strong software engineering in Python and C++, spanning training code to onboard inference integration.
  • Experience scaling perception models across geographies, sensor setups, or vehicle platforms.
