About the role

RF Systems Engineer focused on multi-radio coexistence performance across cellular, Wi‑Fi, BT, GPS, UWB, NFC and other wireless technologies. Responsible for system-level assessments, design of software/hardware mitigation, bench and field studies, and cross-functional coordination to define specs and ensure end-user performance.

Responsibilities

  • Assess platform-level multi-radio coexistence performance and impact to end user in collaboration with cross-functional partners.
  • Design software mitigation schemes with wireless software partners, evaluate trade-offs and implementation paths.
  • Bring up device-under-test, setups, and test procedures for multi-radio coexistence studies.
  • Analyze wireless logs to understand field usage patterns and perform controlled bench performance studies.
  • Propose HW/SW design and process changes for coexistence issues, aligned with cross-functional trade-offs.
  • Execute validation and characterization test plans to meet coexistence performance targets.
  • Track validation status, analyze results, and communicate insights from data.
  • Collaborate with circuit-level and system-level teams on simulations to identify risk areas and root causes.
  • Assess multi-radio coexistence user impact across Apple platforms through RF/wireless system-level characterization.
  • Define product-level coexistence performance specifications, use-cases, test methodologies, and key metrics.
  • Collaborate with analytics to gather usage statistics and understand field prevalence of issues.
  • Work with field teams to design experiments and analyze field logs to demonstrate end-user performance impact.
  • Design bench experiments, collect performance data, and analyze wireless logs to derive hardware specifications for coexistence use-cases.
  • Define and execute validation/characterization plans, track results, and communicate insights to leadership.
  • Collaborate to bring up devices under test and develop test procedures, mock-ups, and setups for validation.
  • Monitor hardware performance across builds and scope software mitigation solutions for observed issues.
  • Collaborate with software partners to determine appropriate mitigation policies across Apple platforms based on factory data.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts to define software mitigation strategies for future technology platforms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with 10+ years relevant work experience.
  • Experience with at least one radio of Cellular, GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Thread, NFC, and UWB.
  • Knowledge of RF component characteristics and experience using lab equipment including spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, signal generator, oscilloscopes, call box.
  • Knowledge of wireless architectures including front-end, antenna sharing, link budget line-up.
  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering with 10+ years relevant work experience.
  • Experience debugging and performing RF measurements at the conducted & radiated level.
  • Experience on co-existence performance benchmark, impact analysis, software mitigation scheme, MAC/PHY and throughput measurement and debug.
  • Experience working with chipset teams to define RF/wireless system-level requirements and influence chipset architecture or design decisions.
  • Familiarity with wireless protocol stack at the RF, PHY & MAC layers.
  • Excellent communication written and verbal skills.
