About the role
ProcIndex is building AI-powered accounting automation for construction and manufacturing. This role is a high-ownership backend engineering position working directly with the founders to ship fast and solve real customer problems from 0 to 1.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain backend services and APIs
- Design systems for invoices, approvals, collections, matching, and reconciliation workflows
- Build integrations with ERPs, email systems, and third-party tools
- Work on AI agent workflows with proper guardrails, retries, logging, and fallbacks
- Improve database design, reliability, observability, and background job processing
- Debug production issues and help us move fast with early customers
Qualifications
- 3-6 years of backend engineering experience
- Strong coding skills in TypeScript / Node.js
- Good understanding of PostgreSQL, APIs, and backend system design
- Experience with async workflows, queues, and third-party integrations
- Comfortable working in a startup environment with speed and ambiguity
- Strong ownership and ability to execute without heavy hand-holding
