About the role

Design and develop software features for robotic systems, integrate sensors with hardware and ML models, participate in field testing, and collaborate with partners to integrate Avalon into platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and optimise algorithms for autonomous navigation, decision-making and motion planning.
  • Work alongside the machine learning team on solutions that improve how robots adapt in changing environments.
  • Create teaming strategies and algorithms for agent-driven robotic systems.
  • Develop and maintain simulators and hardware-in-the-loop rigs for development, testing and optimisation.
  • Take part in field testing to validate performance in real-world environments.
  • Integrate and optimise sensors, cameras and other hardware into working systems.
  • Work with hardware engineers and external partners to deliver solutions end to end.
  • Keep technical documentation for system designs, processes and integrations.

Qualifications

  • A degree in robotics, mechatronics, computer science, engineering or a related field.
  • Three or more years in computer vision for real-time systems, robotic control and motion planning, or edge computing on robotic hardware.
  • Python and/or C++ as a primary language.
  • Experience deploying code or firmware to edge devices.
  • Australian citizenship - the role involves fieldwork and travel with robotic systems.
