About the role

Frontend-focused engineering role at Lunar building an AI-native hospital information system. Focused on crafting scalable, real-time, accessible UI for mission-critical healthcare workflows using TypeScript, React, and GraphQL, with backend in Elixir/Erlang and AWS.

Responsibilities

  • Build a clinical design system from scratch: design and ship a component library and design system for Clinician-facing screens.
  • Push hospital workflows into the modern age: rethink and rewire clinician workflows for fast, keyboard-driven experiences.
  • Render real-time clinical data, instantly: build interfaces that reflect live patient data with no lag using GraphQL data patterns.
  • Make interfaces that never fail under pressure: ensure accessibility, resilience, and performance in degraded networks and edge cases.
  • Turn complexity into clarity: translate dense clinical data into clear, decision-ready interfaces.
  • Define the frontend from first principles: establish patterns, state management, and rendering architecture balancing velocity and reliability.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of professional software engineering experience with deep frontend focus.
  • Expertise across frontend stack: TypeScript, JavaScript, React, HTML, CSS, browser internals, rendering performance, state management, and building real-time UIs against GraphQL APIs.
  • Comfortable adopting new backend tools (Elixir/Erlang, Phoenix, Postgres, AWS).
  • Experience with client-side data loading, caching, freshness, ownership, and push updates.
  • understanding of browser rendering cycle and performance profiling.
  • Modern React patterns and functional programming principles, advanced use of custom hooks for scalable components.
  • Strong async control flow in JavaScript (Promises, async/await); diagnosing race conditions and real-time system issues.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, collaborative, innovative environment; excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Curiosity, growth mindset, openness to open-source tech; 0-1 product-building experience; healthcare impact interest.
