About the role

Presales Technical Consultant – Big Data & Databricks role combining technical expertise in modern data platforms with client-facing and presales capabilities; acts as technical bridge between sales, global clients, and delivery; leads technical aspects of presales lifecycle including discovery, architecture, estimation, proposals, POC, and handover.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical and business discovery sessions with enterprise clients to understand objectives, data landscape, challenges, and transformation priorities.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable big data, data engineering, analytics, and cloud data platform solutions.
  • Design end-to-end solution architectures covering data ingestion, lakehouse architecture, batch/real-time processing, data transformation, modeling, governance, security, and cloud modernization.
  • Design solutions leveraging Databricks and cloud data services across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Assess clients' data platforms and recommend modernization and migration approaches based on value, feasibility, scalability, and cost.
  • Develop and present tailored solution proposals, architecture designs, and technical demonstrations.
  • Communicate business value and technical solutions to executives, architects, and engineering teams.
  • Lead or support POC and technical validation activities; conduct workshops and architecture discussions with global clients.
  • Support effort estimation, technical scope, assumptions, dependencies, and delivery planning during presales.
  • Own end-to-end presales lifecycle from discovery to handover; manage multiple opportunities; coordinate with cross-functional teams.
  • Lead bid processes including requirements analysis, architecture, estimation, compliance, risk identification, and final submission.
  • Ensure smooth handover to implementation teams with clear documentation of scope, architecture, assumptions, dependencies, risks, and client expectations.
  • Engage with global enterprise clients across regions and time zones; build technical relationships with client stakeholders; provide technical enablement to sales and delivery teams.
  • Stay current with Databricks, cloud data platforms, lakehouse architectures, data engineering, analytics, and AI/ML technologies; contribute to reusable architectures and assets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in data engineering, solution architecture, technical consulting, or presales roles, with enterprise data solution design experience.
  • Hands-on Databricks experience with production-scale implementations.
  • Experience designing or delivering large-scale data engineering, data lake/lakehouse, or cloud data platform solutions.
  • Proven experience working with global enterprise clients and distributed teams.
  • Strong understanding of modern big data and data engineering architectures; hands-on Databricks knowledge (Delta Lake, Lakehouse, Spark, pipelines, Unity Catalog).
  • Experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Knowledge of data governance, security, access control, data quality, and compliance principles.
  • Proven presales and project management skills across discovery, design, proposal, and handover; RFP/RFI/RFQ responses, bid management, and technical proposal development.
  • Excellent English communication skills; ability to present to diverse audiences including C-level executives.
